Clarity’s conference 2022 in Japan cancelled
22 - 22 December 2024
Clarity and the 2022 conference hosts, Japan Plain Language and English Consortium, would like to thank everyone for their interest in our conference scheduled to take place in Tokyo this year.
Unfortunately, an international conference of the kind wished by Clarity is just not possible under current conditions in Japan and across the globe. For this reason, we must regretfully cancel the event.
Although the in-person international conference has been cancelled, JPLEC intends to hold a domestic conference. We wish them every success. Some or all of the proposed speakers may be invited to give their presentations to that audience. We are working with JPLEC to determine the scope of their conference. Clarity will be in contact with the speakers whose presentations have been accepted to propose options for getting their message out to the plain legal language community.
Although Covid, war, soaring petroleum prices (and flight costs), and the anticipated global recession currently make travel challenging, we look forward to being able to meet again soon to exchange ideas and celebrate plain language successes. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this unfortunate but unavoidable decision.
Julie Clement, president of Clarity
